A long walk for a long Day – celebrate Summer solstice with a walk organised around Lough Gur, over four of the hills at Lough Gur - Carrig Aille, Mass Rock on Killalough Hill, Knockderk and Knocksraher.
Time: 7.30pm for circa 90 minutes. Meet at the lakefront. Cost €5 which includes guide and tea & sandwiches afterwards in Reardons pub at Holy cross after the walk.
9.30pm Table quiz in Reardons - all funds to Lough Gur Development/local initiatives
Friday June 22nd
Summer Solstice festival entertainment
Time: 7.30pm/8pm tbc
Venue: Honeyfitz Theatre, Lough Gur
Tickets: €10 adults €5 children
Let local talent entertain you through music, dance, drama and poetry. Acts include Allunde, Limerick choir group, Aoife Barron & Katie Noonan – Knockainey Irish Dancers, poetry from John Carew and County Limerick DynaLyts drama group with a one act dramatisation on emigration.
Saturday June 23rd
Digital Photography workshop with local photographer – Mike Barry
Venue: Honeyfitz Theatre
10am – 1pm

Fun Run with Jean Mulcahy
Meet at the lakefront 10am
10km distance – easy terrain.
Willie Carroll Memorial Skittles Tournament
Time: 4pm
Location: Reardons of Holycross €20 teams of 4. Bookings 087 2852022
Skittles is one of the oldest games in Ireland dating back to the last Century. This game was very popular in Lough Gur.

Sunday June 24th
Family Fun Day
7th annual Summer Solstice festival family day – relaxed atmosphere with space to enjoy breath-taking scenery of Lough Gur. Ample free parking.
Time: 2 - 5pm
Venue: Lough Gur lake
€5 per Adult €2 per child
Admission covers the cost of all activities at the lake.
A family oriented fun day. Activities and events include: Kayaking on Lough Gur, Stilt walkers, Gers mobile farm, Bouncy castles, face painters, Tony Baloney Clown, Fanzini Brothers with their Devilish Kerry antics.
Free entry to the Heritage centre which houses a replica of the famous Bronze Shield dating to 700BC, the original of which was found in Lough Gur lake after the lake was drained in the mid 1800’s and which is now on permanent display in the National History Museum in Dublin. Take the opportunity to watch the audio in the centre which follows the history of Lough Gur.
Guided walks throughout the day, Craft Market including a book stall, brown bread, juices, sweets.
Historic Re-enactments by Medieval re-enactment group -Legion Ireland.
The day will also mark the launch of the Lough Gur Ireland Reaching Out group - Live music with Nightfall.
