Scoil Baile an Droichid brought 3rd & 4th classes on their school tour to Lough Gur, Co. Limerick. The children had a fantastic time canoeing in the lake, exploring the archaeological finds, playing skittles and meeting exotic animals.
The tour guides were fantastic-extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The sun shone down as we explored the lake environs, the interpretive centre and the amazing stone circle.
I would highly recommend Lough Gur as a school tour destination. The children are still talking about it- as it was 'the best school tour ever!'

Kilfinane outdoor education centre run kayaking and canoeing workshops lasting approximately 1.5 hours whilst the Legion Ireland are a group of historians who inform children of life during the Roman era by dressing in typical costumes, cooking typical foodstuffs and engaging in combat.  Schools are sent out an art pack in advance of the tour and the school is encouraged to actively help the children prepare costumes and come prepared for battle during the tour!  A typical school tour during the summer festival includes:
