Rubbish collected in Lough Gur
Thank you to all who gave generously of your time for the 13th An Taisce annual clean up. Have a look at the image below to see for yourselves what was collected on the day!
Let’s keep Lough Gur clean!
Lets get rid of this!!!
National Spring Clean is Ireland’s largest and most popular anti-litter initiative. This is the 13th year in the successful campaign which encourages every sector of society to actively participate and take responsibility for litter, by organising clean ups in our own area.
This campaign is a partnership between An Taisce, Government, Local Authorities and dedicated commercial sponsors.
The key objectives of the 2011 campaign are to:
- Encourage clean ups through out the month of April
- Promote personal awareness of litter
- Raise awareness of litter & waste issues
- Highlight the importance of Recycling & Re-use in the wider context
- Build on a sense of community within each area
With this in mind Lough Gur Development Co-Operative Society needs your help!!
The clean up in the Lough Gur area will be on
SATURDAY April 16th 11am - 1pm with volunteers asked to gather at the
HONEYFITZ THEATRE where groups will be assigned a particular road by our team leader.
You will be provided with:
YELLOW BAGS – for plastic bottles
BLUE BAGS – for aluminium cans, tins & food tins
GREEN BAGS- for all other rubbish.
There will be a small supply of pickers & gloves on a first come first serve basis, so just to be sure, you should bring a pair, along with a high vis jacket so you can be seen clearly!
The full bags will be deposited at the side of Ryan’s shop, Holycross by our team leader and collected on or after Monday April 18th by Limerick County Council.
