Heritage Week: Nature Art Workshop for Children

Celebrate Heritage Week with a creative outdoor workshop where children can discover how art and nature come together. Designed for children aged 7–12, this hands-on experience encourages young artists to explore the natural world while learning traditional creative techniques inspired by our ancestors.

Using materials gathered from nature, children will discover how people once created art long before modern materials were available. Guided through a range of fun activities, they’ll experiment with natural pigments, charcoal, berry inks and plant materials while creating their own unique artwork to take home.

• Foraging for natural art materials
• Making paintbrushes from natural materials
• Printmaking using leaves, flowers and other natural objects
• Creating paintings with natural pigments and berry inks
• Drawing with charcoal
• Making sun prints using herbs and natural powders
• Creating handmade paper to turn into a card or small journal

This workshop is suitable for children aged 7–12 and offers a fun, creative way to connect with the heritage, landscape and natural beauty of Lough Gur during Heritage Week
